BBQ Social

Hi everyone,

The end of summer is coming upon us quickly. We thought it might be nice to have a get together and discuss some of the things you would like to see happen in the next year. Please join us for a BBQ at Alison’s house on August 31st at 5:30. We will supply hot dogs and hamburgers. Please bring a salad or side dish. For details on location please see the email sent on August 24. Another email will be sent Monday, August 29th. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Recent Activities

In response to both the newly created LAC Code of Conduct and the government cuts to the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Library System, the NLHLA executive have written letters to Dr. Daniel Caron and Mr. Clyde Jackman. These letters have been posted to our website and can be found under the Reports and Communication tab.

In addition, there is a link to the NLLA’s Take Action page. I urge you all to follow this link to submit a form that will send a letter to Clyde Jackman communicating your disapproval of the budget cuts to the public libraries that have been made.

NLHLA 2013 Conference

As you all know, our annual conference and AGM is fast approaching. The conference and AGM will be held in the Education Building at Memorial University on Friday May 10th, 2013.

If you haven’t yet thought about presenting at this conference, there is still time. Deadline for submissions is Sunday March 31st. Please send brief abstracts to Alison Farrell (alisonr@mun.ca) and indicate if you would like to do a 20 min or 45 min presentation.

Are you out of town and won’t be able to make it in person? Don’t worry, you can still participate via teleconference or videoconference. In order for us to have this technology set up, please let Alison know by Friday April 26th if you would like to participate.

It’s shaping up to be a great conference! Hope to see you all there.
